Lynch Canyon

A few months back, Becky and I decided to explore Lynch Canyon, which is a little nature preserve area between Hiddenbrooke and Cordelia. To get there, you just take the frontage road just in front of the Hiddenbrooke waterfall and drive a couple miles. We had to self pay $5 to park our cars and start hiking...don't try skipping out on paying because a park ranger comes every hour or two. Who knew Vallejo had so many green rolling hills...it was like being in New Zealand again. We picked up a trail map at the welcome center and just decided to explore. We hiked up to the reservoir, where birds and cows congregated for water. We ran into quite a few people hiking, picnicing, and just reading books at the reservoir. Some of the trails are quite steep and extremely long, so not seeing any people could give you the impression of being lost in the country. We spent a couple hours hiking, and ended our trek by being greeted by a herd of grazing cows on the return trail. Becky assured me we wouldn't get stampeded by the herd of hamburgers in waiting, given her past experience with them on the ranch she once worked on in Washington. I kept wondering if a bull was hiding amongst the herd.
