Blast From the Past Week 9

June 2005. Monterey. This was our last COV/CORE bike trip to Monterey. We had quite a turnout with about 15-20 bikers. Our trek took us from Lover's Point Park in Monterey, through most of the 17 mile drive, and to Carmel State Beach. We did probably about 10-12 miles that day. There were a lot of scenic sights to enjoy along the way, including beaches, tidepools, seals, trees, rock formations, steep hills, Pebble Beach golf course, etc. We stopped close to the end of our destination at the Lone Cypress to enjoy a late lunch. We ended the day at beautiful Carmel, relaxing at the beach and the quaint downtown area. To keep from having to bike back, we parked a car at the beach to drive all the car drivers back to Monterey to get their vehicles. This year, we're actually bringing the bike trip to Monterey back, but we'll be doing a slightly different route this time, one that is a little more relaxing minus the steep hills.
